Packard Plant History and New Mural in Sterling Heights

Dec. 1, 2024 ~ The Packard Proving Grounds, managed and supported by the Packard Motor Car Foundation, will fulfill its mission through engaging activities, including historically accurate restoration of the PPG buildings and grounds, displays of Packard automobiles and memorabilia, and tours. President Roger Luksik says there is also an extensive display highlighting Packard’s role in WWII’s American Arsenal of Democracy. Sterling Heights city council board member Melanie Davis joins Michigan Voices to talk about the city of Sterling Heights adding a splash of color and creativity to the city by unveiling its latest public art piece, the "Magic Wonder Safari" mural. Painted by local artist Anthony Lee, this eye-catching mural now brightens the west side wall of Zap Zone at 43680 Van Dyke, bringing new life to the North Van Dyke Avenue Corridor. Following the successful launch of the city of Sterling Heights’ first-ever Public Art Mural Program in 2018, the Sterling Heights Arts Commission plays a key role in seeking businesses interested in participating.
