New therapies in the fight against ovarian cancer and hope for teens with depression and anxiety

Episode Summary

Dr Dana Zakalik, corporate director of Corewell Health’s Nancy and James Grosfeld Cancer Genetics Center in Southeast Michigan, joins Michigan Voices to talk about the new advances in reducing ovarian cancer risk. Corewell Health researchers are studying whether removing the fallopian tubes alone may provide protection while allowing women to keep their ovaries. Then, Julie Halpert, the co-founder of Garrett's Space joins Michigan Voices to talk about Garrett's Space, a suicide prevention program where young adults ages 18-28 with depression and anxiety find community, tools, and a place to belong. They offer virtual weekly wellness groups and monthly in-person gatherings where young adults connect and find support.
