April 26, 2026 ~ April is sexual assault awareness month. Over 420,000 Americans ages 12 and up experience sexual abuse each year, according to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, Nearly every minute, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. Every nine minutes, that someone is a child. Melanie Richards, director of the Kids Talk Children's Advocacy Center, joins Michigan Voices. St Joseph's Helpers is an organization founded on Christian values, made up of men and women who volunteer their time and their talents to help those in need to feel safe and secure in their homes.
